Grow with Rajeev

Helping people keep their plants healthy, happy, and growing.

Founder and Editor, Grow With Rajeev

I’m Rajeev Jagga, the founder and editor of Grow With Rajeev. I created this site to make plant care and gardening information easier to understand, more practical to use, and more transparent about where the advice comes from.

My approach is simple: when a plant develops a problem, the visible symptom is only the starting point. Yellow leaves, wilting, brown tips, poor flowering and slow growth can each have several possible causes. My goal is to help readers understand those possibilities, look for useful clues, and make a better-informed decision about what to do next.

Why I Created Grow With Rajeev

Gardening advice is often presented as a collection of fixed rules: water once a week, fertilize every month, prune in a certain month, or move a struggling plant into more sun. In reality, plant care depends on the plant itself and the conditions around it.

Climate, temperature, light, rainfall, soil, drainage, humidity, container size, root health, season and plant maturity can all change the right answer.

Grow With Rajeev was created to provide gardening guidance that explains those differences rather than hiding them behind one-size-fits-all recommendations.

How I Research Gardening Content

I use a research-led editorial process for articles published on Grow With Rajeev. When a topic involves factual horticultural guidance, I look for reliable sources that directly support the information being presented.

My preferred sources include:

  • university extension services and academic institutions,
  • government agriculture and environmental agencies,
  • recognized horticultural societies and botanical institutions,
  • peer-reviewed research when it is relevant to the question, and
  • official documentation for product-specific, technical or regulatory information.

I do not choose a source simply because it appears high in search results. The important question is whether the source is authoritative for the subject and actually supports the claim being made.

You can read more about this process in the Fact-Checking & Sources Policy.

How I Approach Plant Problems

Many plant symptoms are nonspecific. A wilted plant may be underwatered, but it can also wilt when roots are waterlogged or damaged. Brown leaf tips can result from inconsistent watering, root stress, soluble salts, dry air or other environmental factors. A plant that does not flower may need more light, but pruning, maturity, temperature or seasonal cues may be responsible instead.

Because of this, I try to structure troubleshooting articles around four questions:

  1. What is happening?
  2. What are the most plausible causes?
  3. What clues can help distinguish those causes?
  4. What should the reader reasonably do next?

This diagnostic approach is intended to help readers avoid reacting to a single symptom with an automatic treatment that may not fit the actual problem.

My Role and Expertise

I am the founder, editor and research-led gardening writer behind Grow With Rajeev. I oversee topic selection, research, sourcing, content structure, fact-checking and editorial quality for the site.

I believe expertise should be represented honestly. I do not claim to be a licensed horticulturist, botanist, agronomist or other credentialed plant professional. I also do not claim that a product, technique or plant has been personally tested unless that testing has genuinely taken place.

When a subject requires specialist diagnosis, laboratory testing, local regulatory knowledge or professional judgment, the content should make that limitation clear and direct readers toward appropriate local expertise.

Topics I Cover

My work on Grow With Rajeev currently focuses on:

  • plant care and watering,
  • plant symptoms and troubleshooting,
  • houseplants,
  • flowers and ornamental plants,
  • vegetables and herbs,
  • soil, drainage and compost,
  • garden basics,
  • pests and plant diseases, and
  • practical growing conditions that influence plant health.

As Grow With Rajeev develops, these topics will expand naturally based on reader needs and useful gardening questions rather than by creating pages simply to target every possible keyword variation.

A Global Gardening Perspective

Grow With Rajeev is written for a global English-speaking audience.

That matters because gardening advice changes with location. A planting month that makes sense in one hemisphere may be completely wrong in another. A plant described as winter-hardy in one climate may fail somewhere colder. Watering frequency can change dramatically with temperature, humidity, rainfall, soil type and whether a plant is growing indoors, in a container or in the ground.

For that reason, I prefer condition-based guidance whenever a fixed calendar or regional rule would be misleading. When regional systems such as USDA Plant Hardiness Zones are useful, they are identified as regional tools rather than presented as universal standards.

Editorial Transparency

Trust is important to me, especially when an article may influence how someone treats a plant, uses a gardening product or responds to a possible pest or disease.

Grow With Rajeev follows several editorial principles:

  • important factual claims should be supported by appropriate sources,
  • uncertainty should be explained rather than hidden,
  • regional limitations should be identified when they matter,
  • commercial relationships should be disclosed if they are introduced,
  • credentials and first-hand experience should never be invented, and
  • meaningful factual errors should be corrected when identified.

For more detail, see the Editorial Policy and Corrections Policy.

Safety and Professional Advice

Some gardening subjects involve more than routine plant care. Toxic plants, pesticides, suspected plant poisoning, pets, children, serious tree problems, invasive species and regulated products can require specialized or locally specific guidance.

In those situations, Grow With Rajeev provides general educational information and may recommend contacting a qualified horticultural adviser, plant diagnostic service, medical professional, veterinarian or other appropriate expert when needed.
