Grow with Rajeev

Helping people keep their plants healthy, happy, and growing.

Fact-Checking & Sources Policy

Grow With Rajeev aims to publish gardening information that is accurate, useful and appropriately qualified.

What We Check Carefully

We give additional attention to claims involving plant diseases, pests, toxicity, pesticides, nutrient deficiencies, soil chemistry, hardiness, climate, scientific mechanisms, statistics, dates, regulations, product specifications and safety.

Preferred Sources

  1. Government agriculture, environment and regulatory bodies
  2. University extension services and academic institutions
  3. Recognized botanical gardens and horticultural societies
  4. Peer-reviewed research and established scientific databases
  5. Official manufacturer documentation for product-specific facts
  6. High-quality secondary sources when primary guidance is unavailable or supplementary context is useful

Source Validation

Before using a source for an important claim, we aim to confirm that it actually supports the claim, is relevant to the plant or region being discussed, is sufficiently current and is not being overstated.

When Sources Disagree

Gardening recommendations can differ because of climate, soil, species, production system, local regulation or available evidence. When reliable sources disagree, we explain the context instead of inventing a universal answer.

Diagnosis

Many plant symptoms are nonspecific. Yellow leaves, wilt, brown tips and poor flowering can each have several causes. Diagnostic content should present supporting clues and alternative explanations rather than declare a disease from one symptom.

Numbers and Calendars

Ranges should include units and relevant context. Seasonal recommendations should not be presented as globally universal when climate or hemisphere changes the answer.

Pesticides

Pesticide registrations and approved uses vary by location and may change. Current product labels and applicable local law take priority over general information on this site.

Corrections

If an important factual error is confirmed, we aim to correct it. See our Corrections Policy.
